Acqua
Fragile was founded in 1971 in Parma,
Italy and initially existed until 1975, before reviving between 2004 and 2006
and then being revived again in 2017 under the name Acqua Fragile Project.
The band
released their debut album "Acqua Fragile" in 1973 via Rocket and
this was followed by "Mass Media Stars" (DJM, 1974), "Live In
Emilia" (Prehistoric, 1994), "A New Chant" (Cherry Red, 2017)
and "Moving Fragments" (MaRaCash Records, October 20, 2023).
On their
album "Moving Fragments", which was released as LP, CD and digital
download, the band consists of the 3 original members Bernardo Lanzetti -
vocals, lead guitar and Glovox, Franz Dondi - bass guitar and Piero Canavera -
drums, percussion and vocals, who together with Rossella Volta - vocals,
Claudio Tuma - rhythm guitar and Stefano Pantaleoni - keyboards form the band.
The following guest musicians also participate: Gigi Cavalli Cocchi - drums (track 1 and 6), Stef Burns - lead guitar (track 2), Brian Belloni - lead guitar (track 4), Sergio Ponti - drums (track 4 and 9), Davide Piombino - 7 string guitar (track 5) and David Jackson - saxophone and flute (track 6).
The 9-track
album begins with “Her Shadow's Torture,” in which Acqua Fragile delivers a
great piece of mid-tempo progressive rock that incorporates film music
influences and a recurring rhythm, and is followed by “White Horse On
Dope", a beautiful rock song with a medium tempo and a recurring rhythm
and the title track "Moving Fragments", a beautiful quiet song with
progressive influences of theater music, which has tempo changes.
This is
followed by "Malo Bravo", a fantastic symphonic song with a medium
tempo, a danceable recurring rhythm, tempo changes and a somewhat dark
appearance, "IA - Intelligenza Artificiale", a beautiful progressive
rock song with a not too high tempo and a catchy rhythm and "Black
Drone", a great heavy song with a medium tempo, which evokes a dark
atmosphere and contains progressive jazz influences.
In "DD Danz" Acqua Fragile presents me with a delightfully dark-sounding instrumental song with a medium tempo, in "Il Suono Della Voce" I get to hear a wonderful uptempo song that has light disco influences and contains a danceable rhythm and in " Limerence Ethereal" I hear the band playing a beautiful song, which has a recurring rhythm and contains tempo changes.
"Moving Fragments" by Acqua Fragile is a great album with catchy progressive rock songs, which I can highly recommend to fans of this genre.
