Bernardo Lanzetti and figurative art
One
might think that it was like an act of rebellion that led Bernardo Lanzetti to
choose technical-scientific studies, chemistry no less, instead of the art
institute that his family and teachers recommended.
However, the experience of a school year in Texas was fundamental for him to study and learn the language, slang and forms of the rock idiom.
Certainly
drawing and the expressions of graphic art would have been an always latent
passion for him even when for music, a total experience that started out at the
turn of the 60s and 70s, it became natural to drop out of College.
While
chemistry will later be found, as a catalyst, in many of Lanzetti's recordings
- allusions to science and science fiction can be traced in the lyrics of each
of his albums - on the contrary, painting - canvases, oil paints and brushes -
knocked on his door just brings in the 90s.
Discovering and experiencing what some define as meta-vision or the brain that continues an activity, the graphic-pictorial art in this case, practiced only occasionally over the years, has amazed the subject, pushing him towards new, daring productions.
Having
moved into a proper studio, Bernardo has thus also dedicated himself to
painting, elaborating a personal oil technique as an autodidact.
Specifically, the color is first applied and then partially removed, an operation repeated several times, down to the desired effect.
While the daylight propitiated the paintings, during the night Bernardo dedicated himself to the manipulation of photographic and digital images, an art that has only now found a way to be fully accomplished, expertly guided by modern craftsmen in the territories of digital printing.
In
summary: after his very first experiences, Lanzetti, inspired by the world of
the 60s that he also lived abroad, produced drawings in a compositional line
with pop fashion, acid poster design, always favoring the female figure and the
overlapping of images, memories, dreams and wishes.
Since the 90s with painting and, in parallel, with the digital manipulation of photographic images, the production has evolved and enriched.
What
is the difference between making music and painting? Bernardo Lanzetti replies
as follows:
"When
you make music, you always need to interact with other subjects, whether they
are fellow musicians, arrangers or even sound and recording engineers, when I
paint I am alone with my ghosts.”
